The media response in Croatia to the ZRT special train with the Prestige Continental Express was remarkable. Not least because the offer included the route from Knin to Zadar, which had been closed to passenger traffic.
After more than 11 years, the luxurious Prestige Continental Express passenger train carrying tourists from Switzerland arrived at the abandoned railway station in Zadar. After spending two days in Zadar, the group of travellers made their way back to Zurich. The local journalists could not resist a nostalgic train journey.

Together with SBB Charter and other partners, Rail Event and ZRT Bahnreisen organised a FAM trip on the theme of ‘Trains, Ships, Cars’ for invited guests. The event, which aimed to present the Prestige Continental Express, the Suisse Train Bleu and the Gotthard Panorama Express, was a complete success.

The Prestige Continental Express was created out of a love for genuine beauty and elegance. The vehicles were used as dining carriages and were completely rebuilt from 1999 and modelled on the style of the legendary ‘Orient Express’ saloon carriages. After years of service, technical overhauls were due in 2020. A consortium has set itself the goal of bringing the Prestige Continental Express back into service and is looking forward to being able to offer journeys in a stylish ambience again from mid-February 2022.
